ASK RAMBO RABBIT

Rambo Rabbit, Fantasma Magic's mascot Rambo Rabbit, star of Fantasma's Deluxe Top Hat Magic set, is more than just another pretty - and furry - face. He also knows all the ins-and-outs of magic (from his time spent popping in and out of magic hats, of course).

If you have questions about magic, send an email message to Rambo at rambo@fantasmamagic.com, or write to him:

Rambo Rabbit
c/o Fantasma Magic
471 Seventh Avenue, 2nd Fl
New York, NY 10001

He won't reveal the secrets behind tricks (even bunnies have to keep the magicians' vow of secrecy), but he'll do his best to give you honest answers and guide you to valuable sources of information. Oh, and please allow Rambo some extra time to respond to your questions. His paws may be cute and lucky, but they're slow on a keyboard.

Q. Dear Rambo:
I learned a couple simple card tricks from my friend Susan and I love fooling my older brother with them. But my uncle does some incredible card tricks that I just can't work out at all. Is there any chance I'll ever be able to do stuff like he does?
Jennifer W.
Queens, New York

A. Dear Jennifer:
There are two approaches you can take here. One is to spend years learning the complicated sleight-of-hand techniques that professional magicians use. The other is to get some of Fantasma's very cool and easy-to-perform magic card decks. Our Seeing Eye, Miracle and Card Shark decks come with lots of different, amazing tricks that require minimal practice. In no time you'll be doing tricks like a professional! I bet if you try these, you'll be astonishing your uncle, instead of the other way around!
Good luck,
Rambo

Q. Dear Rambo:
As you suggested in the Deluxe Top Hat Magic instruction book, I've been practicing my tricks carefully. But each time I do a trick for my friends, I get very nervous. What can I do to get over my stage fright?
Barry S.
Hollywood, California

A. Dear Barry:
You may be surprised to hear that even the most experienced professional magicians get a little nervous before a gig. It's caused by the adrenaline racing through your body, but it's this same adrenaline that gears you up for an exciting show! Don't mistake this energy for a real case of nerves. Instead, try to focus, and use the energy to make your performance more dynamic. Real stage fright is caused by misgivings about preparation, but if you're practicing hard, then you know you're prepared. Of course, the more you perform, the better you'll control and channel your energy. Keep up the good work, Barry!

Q. Dear Rambo:
Are you a real rabbit?
Silly

A. Dear Silly:
Of course I'm a real rabbit! If I wasn't, how could I be typing this?!
Rambo

P.S. Thanks very much for the carrot you enclosed with your letter. It was yummy.
